I don’t typically write reviews for companies that haven’t actually performed work for me, but my experience with YNK Construction and Luis earned one. I was dealing with a leak from my upstairs shower and had received opinions that ranged from expensive repairs to full bathroom remodels. Luis took a completely different approach. Instead of trying to sell me a large project, he took the time to thoroughly diagnose the issue, identify the likely source of the leak, and explain practical solutions. What impressed me most was his honesty. He recommended a repair I could potentially handle myself before spending money on more extensive work. There was no sales pitch—just genuine problem-solving and a desire to help. It’s rare to find a contractor who prioritizes doing what’s right over creating more work for themselves. Luis spent time helping me understand the problem and develop a path forward, even though there was no guarantee of getting a job out of it. That level of integrity, expertise, and customer care is hard to find. What a stark contrast compared to dealing with most GCs and construction companies. I had a bit of an oddball project in removing some rafter ties and subsequently altering the roof support, but the team led by Yan and Luis at YNK showed up and addressed the problem with enthusiasm and eagerness. Every person that I met on their team was courteous and willing to help. Most companies I called for a quote brushed me off or refused the job for being too small. Their communication during the project was clear and timely, and I never had to micromanage them. Overall fantastic experience with them, and I won't hesitate to call YNK again. YNK Construction replaced a support post at the corner of my enclosed Sunroom.  They also drywalled the side where 1970's wall paneling (unavailable) had been removed before they came, and fabricated the pattern of the wall panel for the 22" wide piece that had also been removed on the other side of the corner post.  Seeing the quality of their work, I also added some painting and drywall patchwork, as well as a few stucco crack repairs and painting afterward.  Luis and his crew took extra time to think through the best way to support that corner, given the poor job prior owners had done on it.  Luis also took extra time to try to find a matching wood panel and when he couldn't creatively found a solution.  They also worked with me a bit on the pricing for some of the extras that were needed. YNK's crew, supervised by Luis, was courteous at all times, answered any questions or concerns I had during the job with patience and politeness.  Their price for doing the work for both the original job and the add-on was reasonable as compared to other bidders. I had a great experience with YNK Construction here in San Diego. They were extremely responsive and accommodating from the start. Our request was simply for a second opinion on work that had already been completed by another contractor, and they were kind enough to make the time to walk through everything with us and explain the work from a different perspective. In the end, nothing materialized because no further work was needed, but that’s exactly what stood out. They were honest, transparent, and didn’t try to create unnecessary work just to generate a job. That level of integrity spoke volumes to me. Honesty and transparency are rare in this industry, and I couldn’t be more grateful for it. YNK has been an incredible partner for our build.  They referred us to a licensed loan officer when some additional cash was needed.  Every person throughout the process was professional, courteous and communicative.  The quality of check-ins was superb and most importantly, honest.  I knew how much money I was spending throughout the process and Yan helped us when I went a bit overboard in my build, compared to budget.  Suggestions were made and there were no complaints about my numerous questions.  Yan guided us through pros/cons of every important decision without pushing one direction or another.  Billing cycles were very fair and I do NOT feel that anything questionable was billed.  The team made ample time to meet in person or over zoom to complete working sessions.  I would definitely contact them again for a build and highly recommend them.  FYI, there was no discount or other benefit to writing this review.  If you like good communication and a partner that won't throw shade your way for lack of knowledge, this is the team to work with.  Not the cheapest, but not expensive either. I always knew what stage the project was in, and they were quick to answer questions, explain details, and keep me updated every step of the way.
