Warm Modern Bathroom Remodel in San Diego

This modern bathroom remodel in San Diego was a renovation of a small 5×9 ensuite bathroom where we kept the existing layout but completely rebuilt the space from the ground up. The bathroom was fully gutted and we redid the plumbing, electrical, and installed a new exhaust fan to bring everything up to date.

A few unique features were added during the remodel. The shower system includes a built-in Bluetooth speaker in the showerhead, and we installed a heated towel rack for extra comfort. The vanity is a floating design with warm walnut tones that gives the room a modern look while keeping the space feeling open.

The tile selection plays a big role in the overall design. Most of the walls are finished with 1×12 sheets of bamboo-style tile that add texture and warmth. On the back shower wall we used 24×12 porcelain tiles to reduce grout lines and keep the surface cleaner and more minimal. For the floor, we chose hexagonal tiles with green and blue tones that subtly reference the nearby ocean and bring a bit of color into the room.

Because the shower space is only 3×5, there wasn’t enough room for a traditional bench. Instead, we designed a floating triangular corner bench wrapped in quartz, which provides a functional seating area without taking up valuable space.

What The Homeowner Had to Say

We are so happy we chose YNK Construction for our two bathroom remodels plus guest room and backyard improvements. We had some specific design requests going into the remodel that Yan and his crew helped pre-plan then executed perfectly. We worked remotely with the crew for the majority of the work. This worked because Yan is experienced and comfortable with all types of communication. Nothing is ever perfect with executing building contracts but, with YNK Construction, everything felt professional as well as easy and “human” mostly because of frequent check-ins and quick replies for any issues that came up by both Yan and the entire crew. A great balance.
Thank you YNK!!!
