Our Remodeling Process

What to Expect Working With YNK Construction

We remodel homes every week, but for you it might be the first time. That’s exactly why we broke our home renovation process down so you know what’s happening at every step and what to expect along the way.

Step 1: The First Call With Our Team

Our remodeling process starts with a short phone call. You tell us what you’re planning: maybe a kitchen remodel, a bathroom update, an addition, or whole home renovation. We’ll ask specific questions about the project, your timeline, your goals, and what stage you’re at. If it sounds like we’re a good fit, we’ll set up a site visit to look at the space and dig into the details.

Step 2: Walking the Space Together

Next, we meet at your property. We’ll walk the space with you, look at the existing conditions, and talk through what you’re hoping to change: layout, functionality, any known issues, and design ideas. This is where we identify possible challenges, confirm if plans or permits are needed, and explain what comes next based on your specific project.

Step 3: Breaking Down the Numbers

After the site visit, we’ll prepare your estimate. You’ll get a written breakdown that explains what’s included (and what’s not) so you have a clear picture for budgeting and planning. This covers everything from materials, labor, permits, and anything unique to your project. If you want a deeper look at what affects pricing, check out our Whole Home Remodel Cost Guide. We’ll also show you options that can impact the price, so you know exactly where your money is going and what to expect during a remodel before moving forward.

Step 4: Design & Planning Phase

Once the estimate is approved, we move into the planning phase. This is where we finalize design selections, order materials, and create full construction documents with all the necessary details. We’ll also submit for permits and coordinate with any engineers or architects involved. During this time, you’ll get a clear schedule, and we’ll keep communication open so you know exactly where things stand as we prep the project to start.

Step 5: We Get to Work

This is the last step in our remodeling process. After planning is complete and permits are issued, we’re ready to build. We’ll coordinate the start date with you and make sure the site is prepped: whether that’s clearing out personal items, setting up temporary access, or protecting nearby areas. You’ll know exactly what to expect during the first few weeks, and we’ll keep you updated at each milestone so the project stays on track.

Step 6: Final Walkthrough & Wrap Up

When construction is complete, we schedule a final walkthrough with you. We’ll walk the space together, create a detailed punch list for any touch-ups, and make sure everything is finished to your satisfaction. You’ll sign off once everything looks right, and even after the project wraps, we’re available if questions come up.
